Highway 33Highway 33 leads north from Ojai over the San Rafael Mountains to the Cuyama and Lockwood Valleys. The road was constructed in the 1930s and is still lightly trafficked today and includes some of the best twisties in the greater Santa Barbara area. Heading south on 101 take Casitas Pass Road from Capinteria to 150 or just hop on 150 past Carpinteria to Ojai. Turn North onto highway 33 and try to take it easy on the throttle until you've gotten out of town.
Small rockslides (particularly after a rain) and trucks pulling out of turnouts tend to leave dust and gravel in some of the corners and there's always a wetspot after the second tunnel so, ride with extra caution the first time through, okay?
