I dipped all the parts that statically touch the rim (clamps and breaker) in liquid laytex to prevent 'em from scratching the rims. I don't know how well it's gonna hold up but, it's a start. I'm also gonna zip tie some plast from an old shampoo bottle to the lever (and other dynamic contact areas) for scratch protection.
