AFM at Thunderhill June 14-15, 2003 I spent most of Saturday experimenting with passing lines, late braking and what not. I didn't get anything done in terms of laptimes, particularly in the heavy group one traffic, but it was good practice. I was gridded on the third row and looking to get my first top ten again. I had the lap times and the starting position to make it all but a done deal. The green flag dropped and I got a decent launch which turned into a lousy start. I worked my way up and was making my move to pass Mike Norman for 8th place(?) on the exit of turn 12 when I grabbed an upshift, let the clutch out and the motor slammed up to the redline. Tried again and again. Then with downshifting. Nothing. I pulled off the track with a broken chain. Damn.
