I crashed in a five bike pile up just past turn one :( I got a great start and was trying to force my way as far up into the front as possible while I could (I had visions of a top twenty finish). We were all riding nearly shoulder to shoulder when I noticed Sean Case #187 was in the process of crashing off to my right and then Sean bounced into the middle of the track! The rider to my right, Dale Olstinske #930, swerved and braked to avoid running over Sean. Dale ended up doing a stoppie, was catapulted off his bike and ended up being hurt pretty bad. Just after he was thrown off his rear tire swung around and hit me so hard that large chunks of my fairing/instruments shattered into my face and my bike spun about 45 degrees to my left and started an impressive tank slapper (go figure). Just as I was starting to think that I could save the bike Jerri Grindle #618 clipped me on my left side, hard enough to brake my handlebar off, and I went down. As I hit the ground I saw out of the corner of my eye that I was about to be run over and then I felt something heavy hit me and then a motorcycle slide up my back as the rider went flying over. His bike came to a stop with me pinned underneath it. I closed my eyes for a bit, waiting for the whatever was coming next. When nothing happened after a few seconds I started to make little struggling gestures so that someone would pull the bike off of me. The owner of the bike made a very surprised noise and picked his bike up. We then dragged our bikes off of the track and after finding the left handlebar (I needed the clutch cable) I started up the bike and rode back to the pits. Jeff Frost #996 and I slapped a new handlebar and the old clutch lever on (no grip, etc), duck taped the instrument cluster and fairings so they wouldn't fall off, and wrapped tape all around my gloves (the palms had completely worn off) and realized the the tire was pointing 45 degrees off from the handlebars and, in our haste, that we had screwed up electrical system and it wouldn't turn over. ...So, I didn't make the restart. But, amusingly, one of the tech workers drove by on his quad and handed me what was left of my right peg. I need to get the forks and triple clamps straightened, new handlebars, right footpeg, upper, brake line, some new gloves and my back is really sore. My helmet, amazingly, only had the tiniest scratch. It was actually pretty fun! -Rick
